The newly formed Vraiqu'sie Choir extends the Vraiqu'sie exhibition, currently on show in the Hospital Block at Elizabeth Castle, bringing the film's original soundtrack into a live performance alongside additional songs inspired by Jersey's intertidal landscape. Sung entirely in Jèrriais, Jersey's native language, the choir continues the exhibition's exploration of vraicking—Jersey's traditional seaweed-gathering practice—through songs that celebrate the connections between language, landscape, memory and community, while reflecting on the reciprocal relationship between land, sea and all who inhabit the intertidal environment.
The Vraiqu’sie Choir will perform at 3.15pm, as part of Jersey Heritage's Victorian Seaside Family Day, the finale of the Seaside Fest programme at Elizabeth Castle. The event runs from 10.00am–4.00pm and offers a day of drop-in seaside activities including Victorian games and crafts, puppet shows, Geopark rock pool guides, traditional seaside entertainment, and family-friendly hands-on fun across the castle.
