The Sleeping Stream - Collaborative Film

Collaborative film created at the Animation & Sound Station workshops at Jersey Museum led by artists Karen Le Roy Harris and Esther Rose Parkes from The Moving Arts Collective as part of the Creative Summer workshops at Jersey Heritage organised by Community Events Curator Nicola Lucas. Adults and children took part in drop-in stop-frame animation and sound workshops over 4 days from 18-21 August 2025. The workshops used the surrealist technique of objective chance. Participants could explore their wildest ideas and let their imagination run free as they played with sound and images to make something totally surreal and original.

The workshops resulted in this collaborative 24 minute film which was screened for the first time at Jersey Museum on 22 August 2025.

The film was inspired by Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore’s surrealist collages and photography as well as Sarah Pucill's contemporary film Magic Mirror.
